Friday Fitness-Road to Marathon Update

So it is that time again to update everyone on our fitness goals, and maybe help you re-evaluate your fitness needs and goals.  I am no personal trainer or have I ever tried to be.  I am only here to help get your started, cheer you on, and keep you going until you are where you want to be.

This month has kinda been rough on me.  The baby has been teething, back to school, concerts, games, and a little trip to a place called Disneyland.  No matter how the schedule has been I have been trying to keep up with my motto "Do Something"  I have had to get a little creative wherever I have been to get some exercise or mileage in.

Here are some creative ways I "Did Something" this month:

1)  Weightlifting.  Since Lil Bit weighs about 18 to 20 lbs, carrying her around should count as weightlifting.  And I do that all day long, day in and day out.  But really, I actually do sets and reps lifting her in the air as we play.  I do leg lifts.  I crawl around on the floor with her.  30 mins of this everyday will help you get in shape, or keep it up.

2)  Walk.  Walking could be the best and easiest way to get started.  If you want to grab a buddy to talk to while you walk, or to make the time go by faster.  Last week while at the airport with nothing to do, I managed to walk 3.1 miles while waiting for my plane to arrive.  If you pick up your kids from school, instead of sitting in the car.  Park and walk around.

3)  Gym.  You may or may not be able to hit the gym.  But after I surveyed most of my friends, all admitted to having a gym memberships and equipment in their homes that they do not use.  I understand not being able to make it to the gym, I am guilty.  I think this month I only made it maybe a handful of times.  But while at the hotel when I was out of town with not kids and no husband, I was able to get some gym time in.  I also was gifted an old bike from a co-worker.  His wife had it and has never used it or ever will.  Next month I will be riding my "new" used bike.  Look around your house, check your gym equipment inventory, and start using it.
Remember my friends, "Do Something".  I managed to lose 2 pounds this month, which I am very proud of.  I have managed to keep them off the entire month.  Baby steps.  This is a lifestyle change not a fad diet.  The more you start incorporating things into your lifestyle, the easier it will be to do them.  You won't even think the next time.  And remember to get the entire family involved.  My son has started running cross country with his school.  He is very excited.  We have started to run with him on his off days from practice.  I was unable to do a fitness challenge this month but am so proud of our running "walking" team. They completed the challenge, 5K.  My husband is pictured here.  Just a little side note.  He works nights.  He just got off his shift at 6 am, and made it to run this race at 7:30 am.  No excuses.

What will you do this month?  What are you having trouble with?  Good luck!

Good for you...that is so awesome! I have committed to doing a mud run in a few weeks. I haven't trained as much as I should have, but having a goal has really helped. Keep up the good work mama!
