Motivational Monday-Unexpected

***Disclosure-I received an advanced screening copy for review.  All opinions stated are my own based on my personal experience.

Life does not happen how we expect for it to happen or plan for in our lives.  We have all heard that saying "Things Happen for a Reason"!  But what is that reason?  We do not know the reason or reasons, but what we can see after the fact is that we lived, we survived.

I received a copy of upcoming film Unexpected, which will be in theaters and On Demand July 24th .

Unexpected is a wonderfully touching and warm comedy about the trials and tribulations of becoming a young parent – and it was a hit at both Sundance Film Festival and SXSW Film Festival.

Full synopsis: Samantha Abbott (Cobie Smulders), is a dedicated and passionate teacher at an inner-city Chicago high school.  Just as she is coming to terms with her school closing, Samantha faces some life-changing and unexpected news: she is pregnant. After breaking the news to her live-in boyfriend John (Anders Holm, TV’s “Workaholics”) and opinionated mother (Elizabeth McGovern, TV’s “Downton Abbey”), Samantha learns that one of her most promising students, Jasmine (newcomer Gail Bean), has landed in a similar but very different situation. As the women navigate their ambitions for the future, Samantha and Jasmine forge an unlikely friendship that will challenge their perspectives and leave a lasting impact on one another.

I remember when I learned I was pregnant.  Life stopped but didn't.  This movie took me back to facing those moments.  Life happens, pregnancy happens.  But the decision you make are the things that change your life.  I really liked the friendship between the teacher and her student.  Both of them facing pregnancy at different stages of their lives.  I like the tagline - No one is ever really prepared....so true.
