2016 LEGO KidsFest Houston

Are your kids builders?  Like LEGO builders?  I remember playing with LEGOs when I was a little girl.  All the things you can build and can just let your imagination go wild.  LEGO KidsFest came to Houston. 

Can you imagine huge characters all built from LEGOs?  Like how many LEGOs can be in one place?  I am just glad I do not have to pick all of these up.  

Here are some of our favorites:

 Duh, everything is awesome!  Everything is cool when you are part of their team....

Are you team Superman or team Batman?  We are a house divided on this one. 

But we are all team Super Heroes!  And not just the boys get to be super heroes, the girls get in on some of the action too.

My daughter's favorite area was one that I thought I would never get her out of.  It is every little girls dream come true to see their favorite princess.

There was something for everyone.  We all had a blast.  The imagination and creativity of all of these displays were great.  There were construction zones, master builder sessions, group builds and of course these life size models everywhere.  I am so glad that LEGO KidsFest returned to Houston as one of their tour stops this year.

Lego KidsFest is coming to Houston in 2016.  We are so excited.  We cannot wait!!  The tour dates have been released.  Here are the 2016 locations and dates:

Charlotte, NC: Feb. 19-21 (Charlotte Convention Center)

Harrisburg, PA: April 8-10 (Farm Show Complex & Expo Center)

Kansas City, MO: May 13-15 (Kansas City Convention Center)

Louisville, KY: June 3-5 (Kentucky Exposition Center) 

Milwaukee, WI: Oct. 7-9 (Wisconsin Center)

Houston, TX: Oct. 21-23 (NRG Center)

Cleveland, OH: Nov. 4-6 (I-X Center)

Five sessions — all identical and 4½ half hours in length — will held at each tour stop.  LEGO KidsFest tickets can be purchased at www.LEGOkidsfest.com.  Tickets are $19 for the Friday and Sunday afternoon sessions, and $22 for both sessions on Saturday and the Sunday morning session. 

Some of the activities at the shows include: 

• LEGO Model Museum: life-sized models made entirely from LEGO bricks
• LEGO Master Builders: live demonstrations and activities from the crew who get paid to play
• Race Ramps: build a custom car, then race it down the ramp against friends and family 
• LEGO Star Wars™: build and display a Star Wars model
• LEGO Disney™ Princess: create a princess scene to add to a LEGO story book
• LEGO Super Heroes: pose with a life-size Spiderman model and more
• LEGO DUPLO®: younger visitors can explore imagination through building
• LEGO Retail:purchase LEGO merchandise and official KidsFest tour goods
• LEGO Friends: build for the five empowered friends from Heartlake City
• LEGO Ninjago: spin the way to being a Spinjitzu member
• LEGO Mindstorms: build and program robots and snakes
• LEGO Technic: get hands-on with the cool, realistic vehicles at the booth
• Creation Nation: build your own creation to add to a custom map of the U.S.
• Brick Pile: a gigantic pile full of LEGO bricks for creative play and enjoyment
• Monochromatic Builds: bricks of a single color foster group creativity
  
  

Henry Ford Museum #NAIAS

I like going to museums.  I like cars.  Car Museum?  Why not?

Growing up I was a little tom boy.  I had a car collection which I did not let any of my brothers touch.  In my fondness of cars, I learned about this place called the Henry Ford Museum.  Henry Ford started his collection back in 1906 and not just of cars.  There are planes, trains, automobiles, and much, much more.

 The 1961 Lincoln Continental, SS-100-X, that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in.

 LEGO Architecture is a current exhibit.  The exhibition includes 13 models: Fallingwater, 7 South Dearborn, Chicago Spire, John Hancock Center, Marina City, Willis Tower, Trump Tower, Burj Khalifa, Empire State Building, St. Louis Arch, TransAmerica Building, Jin Mao Tower and one of the World Trade Center towers.

Henry Ford's collection is awesome.  There is so much to see.  This was a little of what I got to see.
