Schlitterbahn South Padre Island #BahnLove Celebration
***Disclosure-I am a USFG blogger. I am posting this information in exchange for complimentary resort stay and waterpark tickets for my family.
Schlitterbahn South Padre Island Waterpark is celebrating 15 years since opening.
Built in 2001, this park is home to our Transportainment River system that is designed to maximize time in the water and eliminate lines. This river system connects eight attractions that feature rapids, chutes, and gentle currents.
South Padre Beach Resort is Green. The ropes, Green House, lobby check in counter, parapet walls, chandeliers, waterslides, and handrails are all repurposed, and recycled.
3 years ago, we got to visit and learn about the Loblolly Pines from the Bastrop County fire. Jeff Henry, with Schlitterbahn, offered to take the fallen trees, then had them milled, beginning the process of transforming the pines from scorched wood to the most dramatic feature throughout the Schlitterbahn Beach Resort at South Padre.
Check out my post for more pictures-Travel Tuesday-Schlitterbahn South Padre Island
When you head to Schlitterbahn South Padre Island you can go to the beach, sit back and enjoy your tube ride while you tan.
Head on over to Schlitterbahn.com to plan your next visit and make sure to follow online and enter any of the contests on Schlitterbahn Waterparks, Schlitterbahn South Padre Island, Schlitterbahn Galveston, or Schlitterbahn New Braunfels Facebook pages. Your next visit could be FREE.

Travel Tuesday-La Toretta Lake Resort
***Disclosure-My family and I received a complimentary stay for review. All opinions stated are my own based on my personal experience.
Spring Break came and went. Due to our new schedules, dad was not able to join us during the family adventures. So we wanted to take a break and have some family fun which would include him. And since we only had a small break, a staycation was perfect for us. Down the street and around the corner from Houston is a beautiful place to get away. Don't believe me, check this place out.
La Toretta Lake Resort & Spa is on beautiful Lake Conroe. This place is a hidden gem that we did not know existed so close to home. They have a waterpark, spa, arcade room, teen room, toddler room, and golf.
This was the perfect place for our family to relax. You can take a walk down the beautiful property. You can stick your toes in the sandy beach, watch the sunset while sitting on the chairs, and breathing in the air. We took advantage of the AquaPark, pools, and Lay-Z River Rapids. And since we were outside enjoying all this, we were glad the Coco Cove Grill was open for business.
We met and talk to other guests who were checked in the resort. Everyone had a different reason for being there like a wedding, reunion, conference, vacation, or staycation. But the one thing we all had in common was that we were all having a good time.

Travel Tuesday-Woodlands Resort
Last year I attended Blog Elevated 2013, did you read my blog post on Reasons why you should have attended Blog Elevated? I had so much fun and there were so many great reasons for attending.
I won a stay at The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center.
Behind these woods is an amazing get-a-way. The family did not know where we were headed. It was a staycation since The Woodlands is only a small drive out from where we live. It is away from all the noise, and Downtown skyline.
With our work week ending so late, we did not make it in until the sun had already went down. It was so nice that we could see the stars out here. And we in our room we were greeted by a sweet surprise.
After enjoying our milk and cookie, we rested our heads. In the morning, we woke up and decided to explore the property.
This resort is amazing. There are so many pools. There are so many chairs, seating areas, and tables. There is a perfect place for everyone to enjoy.
According to their FB page:
There's still time to ride the lazy river with Puffy. River and slides open weekends through the end of September. Book your room soon! 1-800-433-2624
We had a relaxing time on the lazy river. It is a perfect place to just relax. But we also
enjoyed time in Puffy's Sprayground. My Lil Bit had a blast in the toddler. She made new friends while in the pool. We also enjoyed lunch out by the pool. You can order from the Cool Water Cafe and they bring it right to you. The kid's meal we ordered came with chicken strips, a piece of fruit, a giant cookie, and a bag of chips.
A staycation is just what we needed to refresh ourselves and get-a-way from our routine. It was nice to get away from it all, even our house. Too bad we had to leave The Woodlands Resort and head home.
Also, you can read my Recap on Blog Elevated 2013-Day 1.

Travel Tuesday-Lessons Learned on My Florida Vacation
Things are going to happen, because things always
happen. You are on vacation don’t let
small things ruin it. In the end they
will be stories and memories to laugh about or lessons learned for next time.
In no specific order but here you go:
- Walkie Talkies-In the middle of I-10, you sometimes do not get any signal. We drove at night and most of us had worked all day. The walkie talkies helped the drivers stay alert by talking with one another. We also were able to quickly let each other know if we needed to exit, detour, or change drivers versus waiting to get signal. We played trivia over the walkie talkies and everyone who was awake played. These also worked very well, once we got into town, driving from place to place making sure no one got lost.
- So I read in many blogs to bring empty water bottles: Yes, so you can stay hydrated by filling them up at the fountains. If you want FREE water and ice and walk up to the concessions, they do not fill the water bottles rather they give you new cup. Even if you bring the same cup back, they give you a new cup every time. So if you are like me, all the planning and pre-packing, and still forgot your water bottles-no worries. We ended up buying a water and using that plastic container to refill at the water fountains. I also brought the crystal light, kool aid, nestea to drop in the water. I brought all kinds and every flavor and ended up not even really using them. We swallowed the water as soon as we would get it.
- I also read on the blogs to bring snacks: I brought snacks and really the only one snacking was my toddler. I didn’t think about it but most of the snacks that were not eaten were smashed, crushed, or broken because we kept tossing them under the stroller. My suggestion is to have each family member bring a small sling backpack, and inside pack their own snacks and their empty water bottle. If you have littles, then mami of course gets to carry everything. Pick snacks that don’t crush, get smashed easily, and they actually would like to eat. The only thing that really survived the daily trips were the individual cheese sticks we purchased from Aldi. Those were great and everyone liked them.
- So the sunshine state isn’t so sunshiny when it is raining. Yeah it rains in Florida. Every day. I was told small showers, so yes, we brought our rain ponchos. But totally forgot about bringing my stroller cover to protect it and the baby from the rain. We did bring an umbrella which we tried to cover the stroller with. I was prepared for small showers here and there but not for a storm. The theme parks closed all the rides while the storms were passing. We took a much needed break inside a store, or took a lunch break during these.
- This one goes with #4, bring a plastic bag to cover your belongings or put your belongings in during the rain. We had everything under the stroller and luckily had purchased a souvenir. I used that bag to shove all our stuff in so it would not get wet. I had brought the over the neck pouch for my cell phone but ended up using it for the camera.
- When picking out your wardrobe and shoes, make sure you were something comfortable to you. Tennis shoes for all the walking. Bottoms with pockets that zip or button to keep your belongings from falling out. The over the neck pouches were very well with keeping your items dry and secured. It has a ziplock technology that then folds over to a Velcro snap.
- Rain, rain, go away. Well if you can’t beat them, join them. At 4 of the 5 theme parks we went to there were splash pads or rides for the kids to get wet on. We didn’t know. We didn’t come prepared. Swimsuit, swim trunks, and a towel, especially if you go in the middle of August like we did. And do not forget the little swimmers for the littles, they won’t be allowed to play in the splash pads unless they had them. They have them for sale at the nearest shops but an oh-so convenient price.
- This is a must for all the mamis and papis who have big families. Before you leave the room or house and head to the theme park, ask to see everyone’s tickets. Don’t make the mistake we did. We actually thought my son had lost his ticket when we got to Disneyworld. He card was loaded with 3 days. Thank God he had just forgotten it in his backpack at the house. But lesson learned to keep up with the tickets from now on, even for the older teens.
- Research, research, research. Even if you have someone planning the trip or itinerary for you. Make sure everything you are doing is a good fit for your kiddos and family.
-
Rest Day.
We had a 9 day vacation. 2 days
of traveling. 5 days of theme
parks. And I am so glad we decided to do
a rest day half way in between. With all
the walking, the heat, and so many adventures, you need to let your body
rest. We relaxed at the pool, the kids
played in the splashed pads, grandma chilled in the hot tub, and the papis bbq’d. You go on vacation to go have fun but don’t
over kill. You know you always come back
saying, “Now I need a vacation, from my vacation!”
Plan for the unexpected and just go with it. This was our first family adventure with my
husband’s family and we have many stories to tell. Even the bad turned into a memory for us to
laugh about now.

Travel Tuesday-Del Coronado
I told you last week the hubs and I were traveling to San Diego, California. This was my first time visiting but my husband actually did Marine boot camp here. But he did not get to see the city. He also, got to visit back when his sister graduated on Coronado and again did not get to tour. He remembered how beautiful Coronado Island was. I had never even heard of Coronado until I started telling my friends this is where we were going.
You did not have to go anywhere but walk right out of your room to be on the beach. This hotel caters to all. I was so impressed how family friendly it actually was. We did not have our kids but I kept telling my husband, the kids would love this. But this was our get-away. Our room had a king size bed. My favorite spot was sitting in the comfy couch wrapped up in the cozy, warm blanket.
We both agreed that we loved having double sinks in the bathroom. Plenty of counter space for both of us to share and have our own space as well.
Check out their garden that is right on the property. Fresh for the kitchen and daily menus.
This place is full of history, part of movies, celebrities and movie stars visited - and now so have we.
Planning a get-a-way, this place is perfect. The weather, the beach, and the awesome hotel!
When I looked up online where we were going, this place looked like paradise. I love the beach and this blue watered beach resort was calling my name. This is Hotel Del Coronado on Coronado Island.

Little Passports Review
Spring break is next month already. Any plans for the kiddos to stay busy and not be at home bored? Is a Staycation in your future plans? Well get those little passports ready!
Little Passports is a subscription-based service that fosters excitement about geography, history, and culture by following the travels of animated characters Sam and Sofia on their magic scooter – both around the world and in the USA!
Little Passports is a subscription-based service that fosters excitement about geography, history, and culture by following the travels of animated characters Sam and Sofia on their magic scooter – both around the world and in the USA!
Kids travel to far off countries and different states with letters, activities and souvenirs they receive each month in packages from Sam and Sofia. Please find more information about the USA Edition and World Edition. It’s a great way to introduce kids to new cultures each month.
My thoughts-My son has traveled with school and church all over the USA. He was excited when he saw this kit:
The recently released USA Edition begins with the USA Discovery Kit, including a letter from Sam and Sofia, a wall-sized USA map, field guide, scratch book, disposable camera and photo scavenger hunt. In subsequent months, kids will receive a travel journal packed with 32 pages of activities themed around two different states.
He pointed to all the places we have been to together, places he has been too, and places he wants to visit. He liked that he was able to learn about places in the USA. He was actually off on Friday and read up on New York, Texas and Florida, which are all places he has been too. He made notes of things he did not see and wants to see next time he visits. I love all the learning he has done and how much interest he has had for this.
If you are looking for something for your kiddos to get into, or just learning guides for them, Little Passports is a great choice. Growing up we never traveled anywhere. Travel for me was in the books I read but so distant. These kits are so much fun and perfect for your kiddos. They will enjoy them like mine did.
***Disclosure-Sample kit was received to review. All opinions stated are my very own, honest opinions.

@SAVEinSA ~ Sightseeing San Antonio by Land, Water, and Air
So visiting San Antonio is one thing but getting to know this city was something else. It has been 3 years since we last visited as we were passing through. And we only got the chance to visit the Alamo. And this time I wanted to see all San Antonio had to offer, check out our Summer Day in San Antonio.
Our day started out with a tour of San Antonio on the Alamo Trolley. Park your car and take a ride. I recommend doing this tour first. It is the best way not to get lost. And if you have the Trolley Hop Pass, you can jump on and off all day long from place to place, no need to drive around.

We then headed to Louis Tussaud's Wax Works where we got to take pics with lots of celebs. I think this is the closest we will get. Lil Bit even got a pic with the wax President Obama.
We were amazed at Ripley's Believe It or Not! Next, we headed to the Buckhorn Museum
We had so much fun doing the topsy turvy challenges. Funny story is I was trying to take a picture of my husband doing this challenge. He is suppose to do a pull up and his legs will go in the air by themselves. As I am trying to take the pic, it gets to me and I go slamming into the wall. I was laughing with tears coming out of my eyes. My husband didn't even know what happen to me. All he heard was me slamming into the wall. I could not stop laughing. Yall got to go here to understand what I am talking about. We had so much fun and learned a thing or two. The Texas Ranger Museum was next.
We are not the only ones who have walked these halls. This place is huge and with alot to see. Mommy and Daddy got some history and fun in and now it was Lil Bit's turn. We headed to the San Antonio Children's Museum.
We explored the city by land and now we needed to hit the water on the famous San Antonio Riverwalk. We took a boat tour and checked out all the new beautiful additions.
And we ended the day in the air at the Tower of the Americas where we could see all of San Antonio.
Picture courtesy of @SAVEinSA There was a band playing music outside, kids playing at the sprinkler area, and people enjoying themselves sitting out while their food was being cooked on an outdoor grill. What a way to end our day. There was so much to see and not enough time for us to squeeze it all in. San Antonio is so full of our history. It is a place I recommend for families to visit.
***Disclosure-Thank you to the City of San Antonio Visitors Bureau, @SAVEinSA, and every single one of these places we visited for our complimentary entrances, tickets, and/or passes. These are my honest thoughts and personal snap shot pics of our wonderful trip.

@SAVEinSA~The Westin La Cantera Hill Country Resort
Have you ever been to a place and wanted to live there? Not a location an actual place you are staying at like a hotel. Check the picture below. This is where we stayed at on our mini-vacation to San Antonio. As you are driving up this is what you see...
Welcome to The Westin La Cantera Hill Country Resort. It is an amazing place that is right next to Six Flags Over Texas and like I say, down the street, around the corner from SeaWorld.
I was in awe of this place. When we arrived to check in, there was someone playing music in the lobby. While we waited to check in, there was another person doing magic tricks. We felt so welcomed. Check out our room...
Our room was great and had a wonderful view. I believe any room you stay at in this resort, you will have a great view. This is Lil Bit and I on our balcony.
I really like that there were so many activities for us to do. We received a schedule. There was stuff for the kids, adults, and families do all day long. If you wanted to relax, then head to the spa. If you wanted to take in the view, and enjoy the hill country, then head to the 1 mile nature trail. If you got hungry, there are plenty of resturants to choose from indoors and outdoors.
My favorite spot was El Fortin. (great wedding spot for anyone looking)

El Fortin was set up at night for movie nite on the lawn. There was pocorn too. Every night was a different kids movie. In the morning, El Fortin was set up for exercise where instructors came in and taught class in the open morning air.
Another favorite memory is The Looney Tunes Breakfast where Lil Bit met and took pictures with the characters. All the kids really enjoyed the characters coming around and spending time with each of them. They colored with them. They even got their autographs. And yes, check out the view in this place.
From the pools to the petting zoo, yes you heard right, a petting zoo. There was so much to do. We did not want to leave this place. But goodbye and see yah soon we must say.
My husband would like everyone to know this resort has a golf course. And it is a PGA tour stop.
***Disclosure-No compensation was received. Thank you to @SAVEinSA and The Westin La Cantera Hill Country Resort for our complimentary stay. These are our honest opinions.
