Latin@s/Latinos In Social Media And Tech Innovation - LATISM
So thanks to my wonderful sponsorship by Johnson & Johnson, I was able to attend my very first LATISM conference. There was so much to do, so much to see, and so much to learn. I was joined by some #HoustonBloggers Joanna from Madame Mariposa, Christy from My Timeless Blessings, and Pamela from A Renaissance Woman.
We had an amazing time at the Southwest Bienvenida Party trying to learn how to 2 step, listening to Caliente and watching the story of the Llorona from HSPVA! (OUR FUTURE)
Day 2-We started our day at McDonalds Breakfast. Did you know the egg mcmuffin has been around for 40 years? WOW...
I spent the Day 2 and Day 3 going around to the classes and learning. I even got to test drive a Toyota Prius. I didn't even know the car was on. It is push start and the car is so quite. I thought it was still off. Samba dancer, Folklorico dancers, Latinos with so much talent...
I got to play the WiiU. I am such a competitor. I played Mario and even the sore loser in me can play this game. Just Dance 4 was so much fun. I burned so many calories while playing this game. Have you ever seen bloggers in dresses play Just Dance?
Hasbro has my daughter's future doll. She is learning to walk. She is bilingual. She is Baby Alive. All of her Christmas wish list was there. I took pitt stops at the Southwest lounge, charged up my phone and my tummy with airline favorites like pretzels, peanuts, and drinks. I got to interview an amazing woman, future post to come with a video. Stay tuned!! Coca Cola gave us an AAAAAAhhhh moment with the speakers at the Adelante Movement.
Did you follow my tweets? The panels were full of powerful Latinos/Latinas with so much knowledge. LATISM was an experience. Next year, New York. The big apple. I have never been.
It is almost going on a year now that my Lil Bit was still in my belly. I am so thankful to that I received all the care I needed throughout my pregnancy and delivery. With all my complications, almost miscarrying, and then the hemorrhaging, I am a very lucky mom to be able to hold my Lil Bit. But I think about all the mothers out there in the world that are not as fortunate as I am. The babies that will not have the care my baby had in the NICU. Will they have oxygen when they can't breath? Will they have a monitor checking to see if their little hearts stop? Will they get the food they need to survive while their mother is not at their side? Will they have a nurse assigned just to them like my Lil Bit did? Will they keep them in the hospital until all their tests come out normal? Will they even make it to a hospital? Are there hospitals available to them? Do you ever think how lucky we are?

-Making Childbirth Safer
Every year, 280,000 mothers die from complications in pregnancy and child birth and at least 3.1 million newborns die in the fragile first month of life. We partner with organizations around the world to help every mother and newborn survive and thrive.
I was born in El Salvador where there was not much for me or my family. Many mothers in our family there lost their babies because they were unable to feed them. They also had poor prenatal care, if any at all. My mom became a mother at a very early age but overcame all of her circumstances. Because of my mother's care, I am alive today. She not only inspires me to be an awesome mom but to help others along the way.
