Hot Hot Baby #SunnyMoments
Boy do we love our fun in the sun. Did you know even on gloomy days, the sun is still harmful? Even if it is cloudy, 80% of the sun's rays can be pass through clouds. We have to take precautions to protect ourselves and our babies from sun damage.
Thanks to Aveeno for sending product samples for review. All opinions stated are my own based on my personal experience.
The sun's ultra violet rays can be most harmful between the hours of 10 am to 4 pm. This when they are extremely damaging because they are the strongest which is why they should be avoided. Our skin is our largest organ of the body. Aveeno Baby's Pediatrician Dr. Andres Cotton says, "Our skin is the first barrier our bodies have to protect itself."
Here are some things to remember:
1) Direct sunlight is not recommended for babies less than 6 months old.
2) Keep babies shaded by putting light colored, thin clothing that covers their arms and legs and don't forget the hats.
3) When children are outdoors, make sure to apply broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF30 or more that can protect against UVA and UVB.
4) Always remember to apply sunscreen to nose, cheeks, tops of ears, and feet. You can use a face stick like the Aveeno Baby Continous Protection Sensitive Skin to make application easier. And never forget the shoulders.
5) Apply sunscreen 10-15 minutes before fun in the sun so that product can absorb into the skin. Reapplying every 2 hours.
Aveeno has been a preferred brand in my home. It is the brand I trust for my daughter's sensitive skin. It is pediatrician and dermatologist recommended for the entire family.

Giveaway-Eczema Awareness and Tips
***Disclosure-No compensation was received. Informational post only.
October is Eczema Awareness Month. What is Eczema?
Eczema is a chronic skin condition that causes itchiness, redness and dryness of the skin. It comes and goes. Sweat, heat, sudden temperature changes, pets, dust mites and cigarette smoke are just some of the triggers that can exacerbate the symptoms of eczema.
This condition usually starts within the first five years, most often within the first six months. Although eczema may affect most of the body, the location and its appearance changes as the child grows. In babies, it is more prominent on the cheeks, forehead and scalp, although saliva from drooling may also cause additional irritation on the chin and neck.
Hispanic pediatrician for AVEENO® Baby, Dr. Andres Cotton, is sharing his tips and recommendations.
A good skincare routine is necessary to help control eczema flares:
1- Give your baby, 10-minute baths in lukewarm water on a daily basis
2- Use mild, fragrance-free soaps and limit its use during bath time
3- Avoid bubble baths or other bath additives and loofahs or rough wash cloths as they can irritate
the skin or worsen the eczema
4- Moisturize your baby’s skin at least twice daily with a fragrance and dye-free moisturizer
5- It’s important to moisturize your baby’s skin within three minutes after bathing to lock in moisture
6- Keep your little one’s fingernails short to prevent him from scratching and breaking the skin
It’s sometimes difficult to diagnose atopic eczema, as it is very commonly confused with other skin conditions. It is important that you consult with your baby’s pediatrician and learn to identify those risk factors in order to control this illness.
My daughter had a severe flare up and it was so scary. My daughter's face had bumps and those bumps soon started having puss. They looked so bad. I had never seen Eczema on the face. I took her to our pediatrician and guess what he recommended? Aveeno.
While eczema’s causes are unknown, the solution to relieve its symptoms is right here. AVEENO®Baby Eczema Therapy collection with ACTIVE NATURALS®Colloidal Oatmeal can help moisturize and alleviate your baby’s irritated, extra-dry skin. This line of creams and bath treatments is clinically shown to soothe eczema symptoms. Developed with leading dermatologists and pediatricians, these products have been awarded the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance.

Certified Pediatrician for AVEENO® Baby, Dr. Andrés Cotton, shares his best tips to help your baby during this transitional period.

Aren't we just ready for summer to be over? When the weather starts to change, we don't know how to act. We should keep being mindful as it starts to cool down that our skin needs protection. And so do our kid's skin.
Certified Pediatrician for AVEENO® Baby, Dr. Andrés Cotton, shares his best tips to help your baby during this transitional period.
Bath Time
Your baby may sweat a lot in humid weather. You can keep your baby clean and healthy by giving him a bath at least once a day. Don’t forget to check his neck, underarms and other creases in his body. Use a soap free and paraben free wash such as AVEENO® Baby Wash & Shampoo which also leaves baby’s skin soft and smelling fresh.
Keep the temperature in the bathroom and bedroom the same, making sure there are no drafts of cold air while bathing or massaging your baby after her bath. This may include air from a fan or air conditioner. Complement your baby’s bath with a massage using AVEENO® Baby Daily Moisture Lotion, which contains natural colloidal oatmeal blended with rich emollients that soothe and help protect your baby's delicate skin.
Dress Appropriately
The weather can change a lot in a day during the transitional months. It could start out hot and humid and then get cold. Dress your baby appropriately, especially when you are planning to be out for a couple of hours. It is best to dress your baby in layers so that you can remove or add clothing to keep your baby comfortable through the day.
During the day when the temperate is warmer, you could dress your baby in loose cotton clothes that will let his skin breathe. When it gets cooler, cover your baby in a jacket or cardigan and booties to keep him warm.
Other Tips to Keep in Mind
During weather changes, babies tend to get sick. Try not to take your baby out until the weather stabilizes.
Fight the germs that can cause your baby to get sick by washing her hands after she eats, if she is old enough to have solid food, and when she comes home from daycare or being outside.
If your baby is at least 6 months old, use sun protection when spending time outside. AVEENO® Baby Natural Protection Lotion Sunscreen with Broad Spectrum SPF 50 and AVEENO® Baby Natural Protection Face Stick with Broad Spectrum SPF 50 contain naturally sourced ingredients.
What do you do? Do you have any tips?
Well I want you to be prepared when the weather starts changing. Enter to win an Aveeno Baby Prize Pack.

Sunday Skincare-Oat Traditions and Home-made Wisdom
***Disclosure-Sponsored post. All opinions stated are my own based on my personal experience.
This the season for tradition. Today we are going to talk about oats, what they do, and how they can help our body.
What is oat? It is a grain. It has been found to be a health food that can also be used as a skincare product.
I like to eat oatmeal for breakfast. It is low in fat and under 150 calories. Oatmeal may help reduce the risk of heart disease. And we have a history of heart disease in my family. So eating oatmeal is a healthy choice I make for preventative maintenance for my body. Oats are a good source of protein, calcium, iron, and other vitamins. A good bowl of oatmeal can warm you right up too.
Oats are an essential ingredient of AVEENO® Active Naturals Oat and have helped me to also improve my skin-care routine.
Did you know that ACTIVE NATURALS® Colloidal Oatmeal can serve as a skin protectant? It has the ability to attract moisture to the skin and to form a protective barrier.
Did you know that when carefully extracted from the oat kernel, ACTIVE NATURALS® Oat Extract, can provide a soothing effect while gently nourishing delicate skin.
One day when I was in high school I develop a serious rash. I had no idea what it was. It kept getting worse and worse as time went on. I, of course, kept scratching at it. When we visited the doctor, it was Eczema.
What is Eczema? Eczema or atopic dermatitis is one of the most common skin disorders. There could be many causes of atopic dermatitis, including allergic or immune mediated components. In adulthood, the disease typically worsens and the skin becomes thicker and drier.
My skin was so horrible. At first it was red. Then it itched. It got scaly. It dried and cracked. My doctor recommended I bathe in oat bath water to soothe my skin. I soaked in oats for days. It finally got better. One of the reasons I have such dry skin is because I love to take HOT showers but this dries your skin. Also as a teen, I never moisturized. So even if this winter temps you to get into that hot water, the tips here is to use room temperature or warm water which to me is like cold water.
Now that I am a mami to my 2 babies, I know what to do if this happens to them. My daughter was born with extra sensitive skin and we always have to moisturize her, sometimes twice a day. I use Aveeno products that I know won't harm her skin.
Specially formulated with ACTIVE NATURALS® Natural Colloidal Oatmeal, AVEENO® Baby products help nourish, soothe and protect baby's sensitive skin, including toddler eczema, and the AVEENO® Baby Brand has been pediatrician recommended for over 60 years.
Other uses for oats:
-face masks
-scrubs
-exfoliates
Also, after I delivered my daughter my mom said to eat a bowl of oatmeal every day to keep my milk supply consistent. I had a low supply at first but I increased my bowls of oatmeal and guess what, my milk production increased. Like I said I normally eat a bowl for breakfast but when I would notice my milk supply low, I would add extra bowls at my snack times.

I start my day with a bowl of oatmeal, how about you? There are so many great benefits and breakfast is the most important meal of the day!
Oat is a natural ingredient that has many benefits for your
skin and health! Some of these benefits include:
- ENERGY: Start your day with a nutritious bowl of oatmeal, which will provide you with carbohydrates to boost your energy throughout the day.
- HEART HEALTH: Eating three grams of fiber from oatmeal daily in a low fat and cholesterol diet may reduce the risk of heart disease
- NUTRITION: Oatmeal is an excellent source of soluble fiber, magnesium, manganese, potassium and zinc
- SOOTHING: Oat is the #1 natural ingredient most trusted and recommended by dermatologists to improve the health of dry skin
- ANTI-ITCH: Topically, oatmeal baths are used to soothe skin ailments such as bug bites and poison oak
- MOISTURIZATION: Colloidal oat is a skin protectant that locks in moisture
The special properties of oat give it an enhanced ability
to absorb moisture and relieve dry, itchy, irritated skin. That is why, the
founders of the ACTIVE NATURALS® Brand developed a special milling process to
create colloidal oatmeal, an ingredient found in the AVEENO® DAILY MOISTURIZING COLLECTION. This
finely ground oat locks in moisture and retains the soothing effects of the
whole oat grain, relieving dry or irritated skin to help soothe your itchy
scalp and nourish your hair.

Skincare Sunday-Essential Summer Skin Care Tips
***Disclosure-No compensation was received. Informational post only.
Check out Renowned Hispanic
Dermatologist for AVEENO®, Dr. Francisco Flores essential summer skin care tips for Latinas:
· Always Use a Moisturizer with Sunscreen – It is important to use daily sun protection. Not only
will you be preventing the dreaded dark spots or hyperpigmentation, but also
premature wrinkles, which are 90% sun induced.
· Keep Your Neck and Chest Protected at All Times – We tend to miss these areas when applying sunscreen
during the summer, and since the skin is thin on those areas, it is more
susceptible to sun damage. Following are some great ways to quickly renew your
skin after a day in the sun:
o Clean and exfoliate your neck and chest to get rid of makeup,
dirt and excess oil;
o Buff your neck and chest with facial scrub once a week, and
o Extend your daily application of sunscreen and face lotion down
to these areas.
· Revitalize Your Body – Chances are you
are spending countless hours under the sun leaving you with very dry skin, even
your feet from wearing flip flops! Pamper yourself by taking short, lukewarm
showers while using a moisturizing cleanser that will help revive your skin.
Rely on natural ingredients such as oat to help improve
the health of your skin.
· Treat Your Uneven Skin Tone – Sun damage can
cause uneven skin tone and dark spots. Use a moisturizer with soy and
sunblock to help even out skin tone.
· Drink Lots of Water – Keeping ourselves hydrated during the summer
is of vital importance, therefore, drink lots of water and very
frequently.
For an ideal and thorough
summer skin care routine, Dr. Flores recommends the following products:
AVEENO® POSITIVELY
RADIANT® Skin Brightening Daily Scrub - Contains soy extract and
microbeads, and it is especially formulated to improve skin tone and texture
for a more radiant skin.
AVEENO® POSITIVELY
RADIANT® Targeted Tone Corrector Combines ACTIVE NATURALS®
Total Soy Complex and Vitamin A, two effective ingredients to even skin tone
and fade dark spots.
Formulated with ACTIVE
NATURALS® Colloidal Oatmeal, AVEENO® Daily Moisturizing Body Wash cleanses
and moisturizes for visibly healthy skin and it is gentle enough for sensitive
skin.
Using a lotion such
as AVEENO® Daily Moisturizing Lotion that contains natural
oatmeal will help you hydrate your skin leaving it soft and smooth.

Patrick Melville Holiday Hair Tips
Famous Celebrity Hairstylist Patrick Melville Shares Holiday Hair Tips
The cold weather may leave your hair dry and mistreated, but not using products to restore its health will result in damaged locks this winter season. Take the right steps now for healthy, lustrous hair this holiday season by following these tips from Patrick Melville:
1. Don't Over Wash
Limit the amount of times you wash you hair, since this can take away its natural oils. Try washing your hair every other day, even every third day. Make sure to condition each time and avoid hot water; the heat may dry out and damage your hair and even your skin.
2. Bring Shine Back
Winter can cause the scalp to dry and frizz, making your hair lose its shine. To prevent this from happening, shampoo and condition your hair with products that have natural ingredients such as AVEENO® Nourish + Moisturize Shampoo and Conditioner. These products are formulated with wheat complex and palm extract to help replenish moisture.
3. Avoid Frizzy Hair Caused by Static
During the wintertime, hair tends to frizz more often due to static caused by many factors such as the sweaters and scarves you wear. Apply a leave-in conditioner to keep your hair smooth. Try AVEENO® Nourish + Condition Leave-In Treatment.
Prueba AVEENO® Nourish + Condition Leave-In Treatment.
